I tried to figure out just what draws me to
Jonathan Chapman's photography. And I came up with a bunch of
words like soulful, authentic, artful, vast, intimate, focused
(selectively), spontaneous, quirky, colorful, expressive,
nostalgic. But more than that, he clearly loves shooting. His
photos have a soul about them. They tell stories. Even when they’re
commissioned pieces, there’s a beautiful balance between art and
authenticity that transcends commercialism. And while he excels at
capturing the imperfect beauty of people, he has a way of
representing inanimate objects that is equally as stunning.
Jonathan is highly collaborative and easy-going, and is one of my
top choices for photographers. Plus he’s a dead ringer for Cat
Stevens.
